♥ Expansion card Expansion card
...is an electronic circuit board that are installed in the motherboard.

...Expansion card too enhances system unit or provides connections to external devices called peripherals.

...It can be installed in computer and add more functionality to a computer.
For instance, user can add any new thing like sound cards in his computer to improve a computer's audio input and also a graphics card to give it more 3D graphics processing power.

♠network interface card
~Also known as a NIC, is a device that allows computers to be connected to a network.

~Network interface card allowed to communicate with each other using a given protocol or agreed
-upon language for transmitting data packets between the different machines, known as nodes.
-it is also an internal integrated transceiver mounted on the network interface card PCB. -this network interface cards acts as the liaison for send and receive date on the LAN or network.

♠Plug and Play Plug and Play (PnP)
= is a capability developed by Microsoft for its Windows 95 and microsoft had made the Plug and Play a selling point for its Windows operating system.

=PnP also gives users the ability to plug a device into a computer to let the computer recognize and discovery the device or a hardware component in a system.

= In many earlier computer systems, the user was required to explicitly tell the operating system when a new device had been added. With Plug and Play, the computer automatically configures cards and other devices as we install them.

♥ sockets
++ Sockets are interfaces that can "plug into" each other over a network. Once so "plugged in", the programs so connected communicate.

-Sockets too iss an opening on the motherboard that can hold an adapter card.

♥ Chips
not the fish and chips.

BUT.........
-is a small piece of semi-conducting material on which integrated circuits are etched. -integrated circuits contain many microscopic pathways capable of carrying electrical current.
Chips are packaged so they can be attached to a circuit board.

♠Slots
>> An opening in a computer where allowed the user to insert a printed circuit board. Slots are often called expansion slots too. this is because they allow user to expand the capabilities of a computer. The boards we insert in expansion slots are called expansion boards or add-on boards.

♥ Bus lines

a line that you cannot find any bus. ....
also not the lines for us to wait bus.....

BUT....
it allow processor to communicate with external peripherals attached to the adapter card.
-Bus width determines number of bits transmitted at one time.
-system bus connects processor and RAM.
-Word size is the number of bits processor can interpret and execute at a given time.

♠Serial port
PORTS usually is used to connect external devices to system unit.

-is an interface that can be used for serial communication
-tramits one bit of data at a time.
-connects slow-speed devices, such as mouse, keyboard and modem.

♥ Parallel Port
- Is a parallel interface that connects external devices that can transfer more than one bit at a time, such as a printer.

-Most personal computers have both a parallel port and at least one serial port.

♠Universal Serial Bus
USB port can connect up to 127 different peripherals together with a single connector type
PCs typically have 6 to 8 USB ports on front or back of the system unit.

Single USB port can be used to attach multiples peripherals in a daisy chain.

-First USB device connects to USB port on computer.

-Second USB device connects to first USB device

-Third USB device connects to second USB device and so on.

♥ Firewire Port
is it a port that can fire the wire?? NO.....

-Firewire ports are use to connects multiple types of devices that require faster data transmission speeds.
- It allows us to connect up to 63 devices together.
